HEXBUG

HEXBUG is a brand of infrared and automaton toys developed and distributed by Innovation First International, Inc. HEXBUG uses many elements used in BEAM robotics.

Intern at robotic toy company where I helped designed various realistic bug-like attributes to micro robotic creatures to help spark children’s imagination through innovative technology.

BUILDING

I started building the drum in SolidWorks and tried different versions. Then we choose a desired shape.

COCO'S HAMMOCK

I was also tasked with designing Coco's hammock. It needed to stretch and grab the bars and be removable. Later, I discovered that it needed to have a hole for Coco's tail when she was laying down.

SKETCHES

I began researching and looking at different types of hammocks from different cultures. I also looked at fun and different ways that a monkey might sleep like in a tire as they do in a zoo or in the nests they build themselves in the wild.

CLOTHING & ACCESIORIES

I designed Coco's clothing as well. I tried all sorts of different themes and accessories.

COCO'S COLOR

I also got to help pick Coco's color. She is meant to be a girls' toy so I picked feminine colors, rendered them and had people at Hexbug vote on them. Sadly, my internship ended before the final decision was made.
